Effective Remedies to Get Rid of Cracked Skin

Lack of moisture is the main reason for hard and cracked heels. Most of us only pay a lot of attention to our face and neglect other body parts. This mostly happens in the case of feet. As time passes by, the cracked heels not only result in a lot of pain but also allow the passage for harmful bacteria to enter the body.

Skin-repairing parsley foot bath

Parsley is a natural ingredient that is enriched with the following.

  • Vitamin C
  • Collagen

What to do:

  • Chop about 12 of Parsley sprigs into fine pieces.
  • Add them into a basin with warm water
  • Simply soak your feet in this water for 30 minutes
  • Repeat the process daily for smooth feet skin

Lemon compress

Lemon is conserved as the best remedy for dry and cracked heels. Lemon not only contains Vitamin C but also strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. The lemon juice is able to boost skin health as well as soothe the skin irritation. What’s best is that it comes with no side effects.

What to do: 

  • Get a large and partially squishy lemon and a pair of clean socks
  • Cut the lemon in two halves and remove all of their juice, leave the pulp inside  
  • Put these halves over the heels and put on the socks
  • Leave them for 30 minutes
  • Remove the peels and massage the feet with a career oil like Coconut Oil

Tea tree oil foot bath

Tea Tree Oil has numerous benefits and that is why it has been sued for centuries for medicinal purposes. With its natural antiseptic properties, it helps soothes the skin inflammations as well as heal any type of wounds.

What to do: 

  • Fill up a big basin with warm water
  • Add in it few drops of Tea Tree Oil
  • Soak your feet in this basin until the skin of heels softens

Be advised not to soak more than 15 minutes. Tea Tree Oil is very strong and it might result in damaging the feet if kept for a prolonged period of time.

Oatmeal and jojoba oil mask

Oatmeal can be sued as a natural exfoliator as it helps in the removal of dead skin and also softens it. When it is applied over the skin, it provides relief from following.

  • Redness
  • Itching
  • Dryness

As for Jojoba oil, it is a great oil for all skin types and is enriched with the following nutrients.

  • Vitamin E and B-complex
  • Zinc
  • Copper
  • Selenium

It is also light, non-sticky and has a long shelf life.

What to do: 

  • Take a bowl, mix in it some oatmeal and plenty of Jojoba oil to make a thick paste
  • Apply this paste over cracked heels and let it sit there for 30 minutes
  • Wash the feet with lukewarm water and dry with a soft cloth
  • Repeat this process daily

Pineapple peel compress

Pineapple peel compress

If you have a habit of throwing away the peels of your pineapple, then refrain from doing it again. Pineapple is enriched with enzymes that are able to break down the hard skin of feet. It is also enriched with vitamin C that helps keep the skin healthy as well as produces enough amount of collagen.

What to do: 

  • Take a slice of pineapple peel and apply it over the dry feet
  • Put a sock over the peel to keep it in place
  • Wait for 15 minutes before removing the socks and the peels
  • Repeat this process once in a week
