Ahh, its summertime and who does not like to spend these warm summer days outside in their backyard where they can take some fresh breaths of air or take a walk in the park. However, all these amazing fun can be ruined with one little but pesky organism, named Mosquitoes.
Today we have decided to take care of this problem for our readers to let them enjoy the best of their summertime. We bring to you a list of natural fragrances to kill mosquitoes instantly.
Vanilla powder
First up is the vanilla powder and when it is mixed with baby lotion in 1:10 and applied all over the body to have a sweet fragrance. This sweet fragrance is a death smell for the mosquitoes and they will most likely steer away from you.
Essential oils.
The essential oils from the following plants are instant mosquito repellents.
- Anise
- Clove
- Basil
- Eucalyptus
Dilute these oils with carrier oils and apply them over the exposed areas of the skin to keep those pesky mosquitoes away from you. Additionally, you can also spray them over the heat source places like the aroma lamp or a heated pan to spread the fragrance faster.
Another alternative method is to dip a ball of cotton in any one of these essential oils and place it over the window sill.
Elderflower twigs
Just put a few elderflower twigs in your room or better yet, in every room of the house. The sweet aroma that is soothing to the brain but is deadly to mosquitoes and can scare them away from a distance. Still, be careful to not have too much of the elderflower twigs as the strong fragrance of the plant can also disrupt your sleeping.
Clove
Boil 5 grams of cloves in some water for about 15 minutes and add in this brew 1 tbsp of cologne and spray this over the exposed body parts. Now feel free to take a walk or simply sit outside for nearly 2 hours and the mosquitoes, as well as gnats, will keep their distance from you.
Juniper branches
It s always nice to have a little bonfire on your camping trips or simply in your backyard but with all the mosquitoes the fun can be ruined. well not anymore, simply throw in some of the juniper branches in the firewood and the fragrance of these woods will keep those mosquitoes at bay.
Cedar oil
The fragrance of the Cedar Oil might be soothing to humans but to some insects like the following, it is a strong repellent.
- Mosquitoes
- Flies
- Cockroaches
Sage grass brew
Add a handful of chopped sage grassroots in 0.4 gallons of water and boil it for 15 minutes and let it steep for another half an hour. Wash your face with this brew and no insect including mosquitoes will touch your face.
Pyrethrum
Dalmatian chrysanthemum or also known as Pyrethrum daisy is a plant whose flowers, leaves and stems can be grounded into fine powdered form and can be used as insect repellent especially against mosquitoes. Simply sprinkle some of this Pyrethrum daisy powder around your house.
Wheatgrass brew
Since ancient times people have been using the brew made from wheatgrass roots to repel blood-sucking insects mainly like mosquitoes. Add a handful of the chopped wheatgrass roots in 0.4 gallons of water and boil them for half an hour and let it cool down. Then boil the water and cool it down the same way 2 more times until the water turns into a light yellow color.
Wash the hands and the other exposed skin areas with this water to repel mosquitoes.
Basil leaves
Simply place some freshly plucked leaves or flowers of basil aka the Bird Cheery Flowers and keep them in the room to repel mosquitoes. You can also rub them over the exposed body parts.
