Good Ol’ Home Remedies To Prevent Chafing Skin

According to medical experts, Skin Chaffing can occur in almost any region of the human body but it normally occurs on the following areas.

  • Thighs
  • Nipples
  • Groin
  • Underarms

The reason for these areas being most venerable is because these are the skin areas that have repetitive friction. Some people who are prone to having chafing skin are obese and those who have a passion for intense exercises.

However, there are many ways to treat the skin chafing naturally in the comfort of your own home.

Today we, after a lot of research of natural remedies, have collected a few of the best natural remedies that will cure and relieve the skin chafing to give you pain-free feeling.

Cold compress

Whenever a person feels skin irritation, the first thing they do is to apply a cold compress on that certain area.

According to a study it has been confirmed that skin issues like chafing and itching can be relieved by applying a cold compress or applying cloth filled with ice. The remedy should be performed when the irritation first occurs and must be repeated until the irritation subsides.

Cornstarch helps not only relieve the skin irritations but also keep the affected area dry. You can not only apply it as it is but can also mix it with petroleum jelly to have a lubrication factor.

For those, if petroleum jelly is not working; you can also use Baby Powder. Baby Powder also helps prevent skin chafing as it lubricates the skin by preventing friction in the certain chafing prone areas.

Mixing water and plain oatmeal

You can make a remedy for skin issues like chafing at home with some oatmeal and water.

Just take 2 cups of ground oatmeal and add it in a bathtub full of warm water. Let your body soak in this water for 20 minutes. With this remedy, you can get rid of skin chafing in a few days.

Mix calendula oil with dried chamomile, green tea, and water

Calendula Oil is known to have following properties that prevent and heal skin chafing.

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antibacterial
  • Antifungal

Calendula has these properties because it is enriched with Flavonoids.

To use it at home, simply apply few drops of Calendula Oil on the affected skin. You can also boil some calendula oil with dried chamomile, green tea, and some water. Add this boiled mixture into the bathtub of warm water and soak in it for 20 minutes to relieve yourself from skin chafing.

A paste made of baking soda and water

Baking Soda contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that are beneficial for several health issues. If you suffer from skin chafing, try using this simply baking soda reedy.

Add one tbsp of baking soda in some water to create a thick paste. Apply it directly on the affected skin area to treat redness and irritation.

To increase its detoxifying effects, try adding baking soda and apple cider vinegar in bath water for enhanced healing properties.

Turmeric (curcumin)

Turmeric is a natural ingredient that contains anti-oxidant compounds which make it have anti-inflammatory properties. This makes it a good natural fighter against pathological conditions such as Cancer and Atherosclerosis.

It can also be used for treating chafing skin. Mix some turmeric in some water to make a thick paste. Apply this paste directly over the affected area and let it sit there for 30 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water to have irritation relieved skin.
