This is only a home remedy and there is no definitive science behind its application for alleviating ear pain. The texture of olive oil causes ear pain to be reduced if it is caused due to earwax accumulation. The application of olive oil on earwax causes it to be thing ad easily removed.
As per the American Academy of Pediatrics, dropping few warm drops of olive oil in the ear canal causes the anti-inflammatory effect that reduces ear pain.
Massage
For the ear pain that is normally caused due to excessive use of the chewing muscles; it can be treated with gentle massage of the area. For this, you only need to apply slight pressure behind the ears first and then gently moving forward toward the neck and then finally to the front of the ear.
This massage is extremely helpful in alleviating the ear pain resulted due to excessive fluid in the ear or ear infection. The massage helps by preventing the ear discomfort from progressing any further.
