Cayenne Pepper is considered to be one of the most effective remedies for treating Pharyngitis. The ingredient is packed with a compound named Capsaicin. This compound acts as an agent with the following properties.

It helps to reduce the swelling as well as the pain by fighting the infection.
- Add half tsp of Cayenne pepper in 1 full glass of hot water. To make the taste better, add in some lemon juice as well. Gargle on it a few times a day.
- Mix half a tsp of Cayenne Pepper with some honey and lemon juice and add all of them in 1 cup of hot water. Drink this liquid a few times a day.
Salt Water
One of the simplest yet effective remedies for treating Pharyngitis at home is to gargle on simple salt water. Slat helps by killing the bacteria or virus that causes Pharyngitis.
- Mix 3 tsps of salt in 1 cup of hot water.
- Mix them well until salt is dissolved.
- Gargle on this water but avoid swallowing it.
Slippery Elm
Use of Slippery Elm for treating Pharyngitis is one of the traditional home remedies. Slippery elm has in it mucilage which is a substance that when making contact with water, makes a gel. The gel coats itself on the throat to provide comfort from irritation as well as helps to reduce inflammation and the pain.
- Add 2 tsps of slippery elm bark in 2 cups of hot water
- Cover the water container to let it steep for at least 5 minutes.
- Strain the liquid and drink it 2 times a day.
Licorice Root
The use of Licorice Root in alternative medicines dates back to thousands of years, especially for treating problems of the throat. The compound has certain immune stimulating properties making it one of the effective remedy ingredients.
- Mix 1 tbsp of powdered licorice root in 1 cup of hot water.
- Cover the liquid and let it steep for a few minutes.
- Strain the liquid and in it, add 1 tsp of lemon juice.
- Drink this liquid a few times a day.
Marshmallow Root
Marshmallow root also secrets a substance with mucilage that forms a gel-like substance when making contact with water. It provides instant relief from throat itch.
- Mix 1 tbsp of powdered marshmallow root in 2 cups of hot water.
- Cover the liquid and let it steep for a few minutes.
- Strain the liquid and add some honey in it.
- Drink 2 cups of it at least, once a day.
