Using the cold compress for reducing swelling and using the warm compress to have pain relief

When the gums are inflamed and are bleeding, you need to make a cold compress or even a piece of ice cube and place it over the bleeding gums. Keep the cold compress there until bleeding subsides. In case the bleeding does not stop after 10 minutes of applying the cold compress, you need to call a dentist.

If the bleeding stops, place a warm compress to have relief from the pain. The warm compress should only be used after the swelling has subsided.

Gargling on saltwater mouthwash

This one’s a common home remedy, take 1 glass of warm water and add in it 1 tbsp of sea salt. Mix the salt until it dissolves and take a sip of this saltwater and swish it around the mouth for at least 30 seconds. Perform this procedure for 5 times 2 times a day. The recommend times for this procedure are in the morning or right before going to bed.

Saltwater helps to reduce the swelling of the gums along with stopping the bleeding of gums. In addition to this, saltwater also creates an environment of high alkaline content which makes it impossible for the bacteria to grow in the mouth.   

Using the oral irrigator

Oral Irrigator is the device that makes use of the high pressure water jet that helps in cleaning the gums thoroughly. To add the antibacterial effect, you can also add in some mouthwash in the water. Having clean gums means fewer chances of infection to develop that can cause bleeding gums.

Using the alcohol-free mouthwash

Simply using mouthwash on a daily basis is a great way to get rid of the bacteria population inside the mouth. It also helps to reduce the inflammation of gums which can lead to bleeding. If your gums are sensitive and bleed often, we recommend using the mouthwash that is alcohol-free as the alcohol-based ones can cause intense irritation in the gums.

Another traditional remedy to stop bleeding gums.  Take a tea bag and steep it in some boiling water for about 2 minutes. After that, take it out and allow it to cool. Now apply this cooled tea bag over the bleeding gums and let it sit there for at least 5 minutes. Tea has tannic acid in it which provides relief from gum infections.

Eating crunchy vegetables

There are lots of crunchy vegetables such as carrots and celery sticks.  Eating these crunchy vegetables in between meals allow for the food residue in teeth to be removed which then prevents any onset of gum infection.

Eating these types of vegetables allows for the generation of saliva in the mouth which cleans the inside of mouth further. Due to these crunchy vegetables being low in carbs and sugar, they do not result in tooth decay.

Eating leafy greens

One cause of the blood not getting coagulated fast is the lack of Vitamin K in the body. This is one of the primary reasons that he bleeding gums take a lot of time to stop bleeding than usual.

Eating green leafy vegetables such as lettuce, kale, and spinach provides the body with the needed amount of vitamin K. including these green leafy vegetables in your diet helps a person get rid of Vitamin K deficiency.

Swishing some chamomile tea in your mouth

Take a cup of boiling hot water and place one bag of chamomile tea in it. Allow this bag to steep for about 5 minutes before taking it out and allowing the tea to cool down. After the tea cools down, take a sip of it and start swishing it around your mouth and then drink it. Chamomile tea has natural muscle-relaxing and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to helping with inflamed gums, it also provides relief to sour stomach as well as canker sores.

Applying honey

Before using this remedy, you need to take some lukewarm water and then rinse your mouth thoroughly with it to clean any food residue. After that take some organic honey and apply it over the gums in a massaging manner for 10 minutes in the morning. Honey contains a substance called Propolis which acts as a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent.

The tip to remember applying honey is that you only need to apply it over the gums and not directly on the teeth.  Applying on teeth, especially if you suffer from cavities can cause intense pain.
