One easy way to keep excessive mucus production in control is to increase fluid intake. The more fluids a person drinks, the more their mucus stays thin. It is an important and effective remedy for people with allergies. The first rule of the treatment is to stay hydrated. Instead of drinking lemon or juices, keep your body hydrated with water. It helps the body to get rid of mucus and also clean the body in general by flushing out all the harmful toxins.

Keeping the surrounding moist

This tip is in relation to the first one. Dry air tends to irritate the nose thus causing it to be runny. Often people suffering from allergies start sneezing a lot in the dry air weather. To tackle this problem, you should simply buy a humidifier and turn it on before going to sleep. For a sweet aroma, you can also add the essential oils in the humidifier.

Gargling salt water

Gargling with salt water helps tackle the itchy and irritated throat problems. Simply add 1 tsp of salt in 1 glass of warm water and gargle on it several times for a few days.

Blowing the nose hard

Refrain from swallowing your mucus; instead, blow your nose hard to eject the excessive mucus stuck in your sinuses. Be advised to not blow too much hard as to cause damage to the mucous coats.

Using Eucalyptus

Simply massaging your chest with eucalyptus oil or adding 2 drops of it in the bath water can do wonders for the mucus problem. Due to the natural anti-bacterial properties of the oil, it helps to prevent myriad respiratory disorders.
